Europe 1560 rated  Great
It has some drawbacks.

The neutrals dictate the flow of the game early on so much so that if you aren't lucky enough to grab one you're already at a disadvantage. There are exceptions, but not usually. They are so powerful that it can be a very successful strategy just to grab 3-4 early and wait to spring into action for the first kill. The issue I take with this is simply how do you counter such a strategy?

Secondly, the map has so much strong areas that you always get a LOOONG game. Dull endgames are common here.

But these things aren't crippling.
This map is still probably one of the best large party maps I've ever played.

War rated  Abysmal
I think Wargear Warfare is much more pleasing to look at. But the main reason I give it this rating is because it changed the game in such a tiny way in Australia that it could really catch someone off guard. Either put "(with edited Australia)" in the title or description or revert that edit to the original.

Asherons Gear rated  Great
I find some areas, like the bottom left corner and the blue base in the center, extremely valuable and easy to hold whereas other spots are near impossible yet offer very little even if you manage it. But that aside, the map is really dynamic. It works better than other maps with the Hordes system. Also, it's a huge map so save it for games with a lot of players.

Doom's Crescent Isle rated  Superb
Really fantastic map. Everything is tightly connected so usually the first one to hold a continent wins because it's so easy to obstruct others after that point. But not always. It's fresh in both gameplay and looks.

WarGear Warfare rated  Perfect
Simple and universal. One thing that stands out is the fantastic balance of large and small continents. The ratio of chokepoints to clusters of conjoined territories is also about even. What will forever set it above most other maps is that it uses the world we live in as its inspiration. Hard for new maps to top that.

The other reviewers have lauded the wrap around but I have to say I disagree. While playing I found it a bit confusing. Often times I had to check and doublecheck where the wrapped territories were connected. Another thing I disliked when playing on it with the default settings: I don't understand the logic behind flat card rates! It makes games drag on (waiting for cards to go for a kill becomes difficult) and rewards players lucky enough to draw a match quickly even more than before! I suppose that has nothing to do with the map itself, but it still affected my game in an undesirable way and, as far as I know, the map creator decides the default settings. Lastly, I think the map is a little too connected. Makes it extremely challenging to hold down any continent. Not to say a map with chokepoints everywhere would be better, but I think some balancing is in order with that aspect that I am not totally pleased with here.

Its strengths are key: basic, easy-on-the-eyes, dynamic, and unique.

I really like this map. It's interesting the way it's segregated by the bridges so you have to sacrifice some reinforcements to cross to a new area. It breaks the game into three phases: fighting over the single fort-type points, taking the space surrounding it, and then expanding to attack someone else once you are prepared to cope with the -1. All in all very fun and dynamic map.

It's a very simple design that is excellent both aesthetically and in gameplay. Unlike 90% of the risk maps out there, everything isn't so intertwined. It's harder to position yourself for kills and it's harder to tag team the big players (since they can heavily fortify one slot in a tunnel instead of having to spread their troops out). The unlimited reinforcements only increase these effects. But to me, there are neither advantages or disadvantages; it's only perks that make this map unique. These settings more than anything reward smart play. No longer will the mediocre participant who is lucky enough to take her turn after a noob flails about the board be able to combo several kills for the victory. Again, this is both the map's greatest strength and greatest flaw. Cheers to the designer(s).
